Do you ever feel like every day is one long tug-of-war with your kids? Maybe it’s shoes left in the hallway, bedtime battles, or screen time negotiations. You try to decide: Is this worth the fight? Or should I let it go? But no matter what you choose, you end up stressed, second-guessing yourself, and lying in bed at night wondering: Am I too strict? Or am I messing up my kids by being too lenient?
If that sounds familiar, mama, this episode is for you.
In today’s episode of Conquer Mom Stress, Jill gets real about the hidden stress behind trying to pick your battles as a mom. You’ll discover why the back-and-forth of correcting everything—or stressing over choosing the “right” battles—is draining your energy, spiking your stress hormones, and leaving you with guilt instead of peace.
You’ll also learn why your brain responds to parenting conflict like it’s an actual threat (hello, fight-or-flight mode) and how that constant state of inner chaos makes motherhood feel heavier than it has to.
Most importantly, you’ll walk away with three practical strategies to calm the stress so you can parent with peace and confidence—without fighting every little battle.
✨ What You’ll Learn in This Episode
Why constantly correcting your kids creates more stress instead of more control
The hidden reason moms fear making the wrong choice when picking battles
How your brain and body react to parenting stress (and why you feel so exhausted afterward)
The surprising way correcting your kids gives you a false sense of calm—and what to do instead
3 strategies to reduce stress immediately:
Calm the internal battle before the external one
Take a self time-out to reset your body and mind
Release post-battle tension so you don’t carry stress into the rest of your day
💡 Quote of the Day“Peace begins the moment you choose not to fight with yourself.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
📖 Bible EncouragementPhilippians 4:7 — “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
You don’t have to fight every battle with your kids—or within yourself. God’s peace is bigger than your uncertainty, your guilt, and even the chaos of motherhood.
🎯 One Action Step for TodayWhen you feel stress rising as you decide whether to pick a battle, pause. Breathe. Stretch. Remind yourself: This doesn’t define me as a mom. Notice how quickly your body begins to calm—and how that shift changes your connection with your child.

You feel stuck correcting your kids all day long
You’re exhausted from second-guessing if you’re too strict or too lenient

Why don’t my kids listen to me? What do I do when my child ignores my guidance? How do I stop the stress and frustration when they don’t want my advice?
If you’ve ever felt powerless, exhausted, or even disrespected when your child brushes off your advice, you’re not alone. In this episode of Conquer Mom Stress, we dive into the hidden reasons why your child’s refusal to listen feels so personal—and why it triggers such a strong stress response in your mind and body.
You’ll discover why your brain interprets ignored advice as rejection, disrespect, and even danger—and how that clash between your protective instincts and your child’s independence ramps up your stress levels. We’ll unpack the biology, from cortisol spikes to the way oxytocin bonds you to your child’s wellbeing, and why it leaves you carrying their pain as your own.
But here’s the good news: you don’t have to live stuck in the cycle of lecturing, nagging, and guilt. Jill shares three powerful mindset and communication shifts that will help you let go of the “shoulds,” release guilt, and move from fixer to listener. Along the way, you’ll hear relatable stories, encouraging wisdom, and practical tools to restore your peace—without giving up your role as mom.
💡 In this episode, you’ll learn:
Why ignored advice feels like rejection and triggers mom guilt.
How stress hormones hijack your mood, energy, and communication with your child.
The surprising biological reason you feel your child’s pain as your own.
Three simple strategies to lower your stress when your child doesn’t listen: letting go of “shoulds,” shifting from fixing to listening, and reframing negative beliefs into empowering ones.
How to create a safe space for your child to grow—even when their choices look different from yours.
✨ Inspirational wisdom from Mark Twain and Hodding Carter reminds us that mistakes are part of learning, and our greatest gift as moms is offering both roots and wings.
📖 Plus, Jill ties it all back to Proverbs 22:6, reminding us that training and guiding with love matters more than controlling every step.
🎯 One small step you can take today: Write down the negative belief that rises when your child ignores your advice, and replace it with a positive one that brings peace instead of panic. Keep it close this week as a reminder that you don’t have to control every outcome—you just have to love, guide, and trust.

“Why does my child’s shyness make me feel like a bad mom?”“How do I help my shy child try new things?”
If your child clings to your leg at drop-off, hides behind you when other kids say hi, hesitates to join group activities, or begs to come home from camp—friend, you are not alone.
In this week’s episode of Conquer Mom Stress, Jill unpacks why having a cautious or “slow-to-warm-up” child feels so stressful for moms, and what you can do to support your child without drowning in guilt, anxiety, or overwhelm.
💔 What We Talk About in This Episode
Why your child’s tears, clinginess, or hesitation stir up such an intense protective response in moms.
What’s really happening in your body when your child is distressed (and why it feels like their pain is your pain).
Why kindergarten drop-off, summer camp homesickness, or even playdates can trigger so much stress for moms.
How your own anxiety can unintentionally increase your child’s stress—and how to flip that cycle.
🌱 3 Stress-Relief Strategies for Moms of Shy Kids
Inside the episode, you’ll hear 3 simple, science-backed, and faith-filled ways to stay grounded:
Grounding Breath Before Drop-OffA 60-second practice that calms your body’s stress response and gives you clarity before you say goodbye.
Anchor in TruthA reminder that your child’s discomfort is not danger—and how scripture like Isaiah 41:10 can steady your heart.
Talk, Don’t ScrollWhy texting or calling a trusted mom friend reduces stress hormones and helps you show up calmer for your child.
💡 Quotes to Hold Onto
“Love is at the root of everything — all learning, all relationships, all parenting.” — Fred Rogers
“Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is let your child struggle in a safe space, knowing growth is happening in the discomfort.”
🙏 A Scripture for Your Heart
Isaiah 41:10“Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”
Let this verse remind you—you and your child aren’t walking into kindergarten (or camp, or that playdate) alone. God goes before you.
🎯 One Simple Action for Today
Before your next drop-off, pause for just 60 seconds.Put your hand on your heart, take one grounding breath, and repeat:👉 “God is with me. God is with my child.”
That one shift can help you walk away calmer, more confident, and more connected.
✨ Motherhood isn’t about removing every struggle—it’s about showing up with love and peace, even when things feel messy.

In this episode of Conquer Mom Stress, we’re digging into the real reason moms feel like failures—and it has nothing to do with how good of a mom you actually are. It’s called negativity bias, and it’s the brain’s survival mechanism that makes you cling to the mistakes while forgetting the wins.
This constant self-criticism feeds mom guilt, fuels burnout, and makes motherhood feel heavy, exhausting, and joyless. You can shift from constantly feeling like a “bad mom” to actually seeing and celebrating the great mom you already are.
✨ What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
Why moms feel like failures even when they’re showing up with love every single day
How negativity bias works (and why your brain is stuck replaying the worst parts of your day)
The connection between mom guilt, stress, and burnout—and how they feed each other
3 simple strategies to break free from guilt, calm your mind, and finally start enjoying motherhood again
💡 Quotes & Takeaways
“Feeling like you’re failing as a mom isn’t proof that you are—it’s proof that your brain is doing its job.”
“Negativity bias tricks you into focusing on the one thing that went wrong instead of the 100 things you did right.”
“You can’t enjoy motherhood if you’re always stuck in survival mode.”
🌿 Scripture for Encouragement
"My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness." — 2 Corinthians 12:9

I have been involved in mom coaching since 2013 and one thing I’ve learned over the years in that realm is that mom stress is a recurring cycle that can pop up at the least expected times. And since I’m still in the throws of motherhood myself, I can assure you that I am regularly being hit with moments of stress, exhaustion, and burnout, feeling like I’m failing as a mom and screwing my kids up. Which means I am constantly on the hunt for understanding why this is happening and what to do about it.
One thing you’ll learn about me is that my life motto is that things don’t have to stay this way. No matter what’s going on to cause you stress, there is always a way out, you just have to find it. And that is exactly what I’m dedicated to doing, helping you find your way out of mom stress and back into the joys of motherhood.
On this show, you’ll get practical tools you can actually use in the middle of mom life chaos, encouraging stories that remind you you’re not the only one, and faith-filled inspiration to lift your spirit when you feel like giving up.
